Derek Sweeting QC was called to the Bar in 1983 and took silk in 2001. His practice is focused on contentious civil litigation and advisory work in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and in arbitration. He is listed as a Leading Silk in The Legal 500, where he has received praise for his “outstanding skills as a negotiator and advocate.” He was appointed as a Recorder in 2001, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2008 and is a qualified mediator.
He has been a trainer in the Middle Temple Advocacy Department for a number of years and is experienced in both international and domestic arbitration.
